FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
At CrossFit Aldermaston, there are no joining fees. Memberships are available on a month-to-month basis with a month’s notice period. Our goal is for you to train, enjoy your membership, and achieve results without being tied into contracts. We are confident that our offerings surpass those of conventional gyms, and our commitment to your success will bring you back. Sessions are conducted in groups, limited to around 16 participants depending on the class type. Each session includes a structured warm-up followed by a designated workout. All movements are thoroughly explained, and time is dedicated to ensuring proper techniques are learned. The group performs the workout together, fostering a strong sense of camaraderie and community. Workouts are universally scalable, allowing individuals of any age and ability to exercise alongside one another. As a member, you will get a great sense of achievement upon completing a workout and will have the opportunity to build friendships along the way.
Most gyms offer standard workouts with isolation movements and long aerobic sessions focused on cardio. CrossFit Aldermaston takes a different approach that gets results. We use compound, functional movements and short, high-intensity sessions mixed with longer efforts. These methods are proven to be more effective than traditional cardio routines. Conventional gyms often rely on outdated methods, leaving many gym-goers unmotivated and under-utilising their memberships.
CrossFit can be scaled to accommodate the abilities of anyone, allowing them to work at an intensity appropriate for them. The workouts are challenging but can be adjusted to suit various fitness and ability levels, from elite athletes to retirees. Workouts are scaled rather than changed. CrossFit training should be approached progressively. Success requires commitment, and while participants will not be pushed to do anything they do not wish to do, they will be shown how to achieve goals they previously thought were unattainable.
The movements and intensity involved in CrossFit require greater physical exertion compared to traditional gym routines, resulting in a significantly higher energy expenditure within a shorter timeframe. When paired with a healthy diet, this regimen will naturally lead to a leaner physique over time. Training and eating like an athlete often results in CrossFit participants developing an athletic appearance. Although weight loss is not the primary objective of the CrossFit programme, it is a beneficial side effect that we can assist you with.
CrossFit classes are structured into three main sections over the course of one hour. The session begins with a programmed warm-up, followed by a detailed review of the movements and an opportunity to work on individual skills or techniques (referred to as ‘tekkers’). The class concludes with a group workout (or WOD). The final workouts vary in length but typically fall within a 10-20 minute duration.
Results: We do not require you to sign a contract, unlike other organisations. Our fees are charged monthly in advance. Comparing the results of three months at a gym with three months of CrossFit is impossible due to the significant differences in techniques and training methods. Regular participation in CrossFit enhances fitness, speed, power, and lean muscle mass. More importantly, people who join CrossFit tend to continue their training! We offer skilled coaching, ongoing support, and the necessary tools and advice to keep you motivated and progressing towards your goals.
Sound familiar? Traditional fitness industries have a drop-out rate of nearly 80% in the first 12 weeks, which is why they enforce long-term contracts. These gyms profit from only 10% of members actively attending. In contrast, CrossFit Aldermaston boasts an over 80% retention rate due to its excellent experience, effective methodology, supportive community, and impressive results. We offer personalised coaching for each workout and exercise, ensuring proper movement, form, and technique. We help you discover your intensity levels and foster camaraderie in our group classes, something traditional gyms lack. The return on investment is significant, and the experience can be life-changing.
Of course they are. Training is in a public place, the parks’ charge for this is minimal no matter how many people turn up. Equipment is limited, and often only one session per day is held at each venue, sometimes none. With many individuals working out simultaneously, there is less individual attention which may affect technique improvement and results. Additionally, joining usually requires a fee or a minimum 3-month contract before any benefits are evident. CrossFit Aldermaston offers a purpose-built facility, specialized equipment, and highly trained coaching staff conducting small group personal training classes. Participants can leave after a month if unsatisfied, making it potentially more cost-effective and efficient than a 3-month bootcamp programme.
CrossFit Inc provides a Workout of the Day free of charge on their website, accessible to anyone. Nonetheless, training in our facilities offers several advantages, including access to professional coaching, enhanced motivation, increased intensity, and a supportive community. The combination of high intensity and proper coaching will facilitate quicker progress. Training with us ensures you exercise more effectively, receive comprehensive support in technique, motivation, and nutrition, and likely participate in workouts more frequently.
Wear clothing that is comfortable and allows for free movement. Suitable options include board shorts, regular shorts, three-quarter length pants, joggers, vest tops, t-shirts, and hoodies. Layering clothing is recommended. Avoid tight trousers unless they contain lycra.
Aside from rowers/ski-ergs/bikes, we do not use any other machines. Machines often force your body to move in unnatural ways, potentially placing excessive stress on your joints. We primarily incorporate functional movements that enable your joints to move within their natural range, thereby improving mobility. This approach enhances performance in various sports and daily activities, such as carrying the shopping. We don’t use machines…..we build them.
Functional fitness and good nutrition can help prevent many age-related ailments like difficulty walking or getting out of a chair. By using everyday movements and various tools, CrossFit helps members maintain productive lives at any age. For athletes, functional exercises boost strength, speed, agility, and flexibility. Additionally, CrossFit is a vibrant, challenging, and empowering way to improve fitness, endurance, and connect with supportive, like-minded individuals.
Each CrossFit gym sets its own prices. These prices often reflect the location, the quality of the gym space, the experience of the coaches, and the standard of class programming. Our prices correspond to the level of training we offer, the size of our gym, our coaches’ qualifications and experience, the number of classes available, and our reputation. We aim to provide high-quality training and facilities.
